Himanshu Sangwan reveals getting advice from bus driver to dismiss Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli managed to score just 6 runs on his Ranji Trophy return after 12 years
Railways pacer Himanshu Sangwana hogged the limelight after he dismissed Virat Kohli in the Ranji Trophy clash between Delhi vs Railways. The pacer claimed that even their team bus driver gave advice on how to bowl to Kohli to dismiss the star batter. But Himanshu Sangwan insisted on bowling to his strength as he dispatched the ace batter with a devilish inswinger.
Virat Kohli made a comeback into the Ranji Trophy after a long span of 12 years. But his return was short-lived. His stay lasted just 15 deliveries where he managed to score just 6 runs with a single boundary. But it was Himanshu Sangwan who scalped his wicket to make the headlines.
Bowling to my strength – Himanshu Sangwan
Kohli has been suffering in playing balls away from the off stump. It has been his tendency to play drive shots and thereby lose his wickets. Sangwan even claimed that their bus driver insisted on bowling on the fifth wicket. But the pacer bowled to his strength to dispatch the star better.
“Before the match, there were talks about Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant going to play for Delhi. At the time, we didn’t know that the match would be aired live. We slowly learned that Rishabh Pant wouldn’t play, but Virat would, and the match would be streamed live. I am leading the Railways’ pace attack. Every team member told me that they thought I would dismiss Virat Kohli,” Sangwan told The Hindustan Times.
“The bus in which we were travelling, even the bus driver told me that you know that you need to bowl at the fourth-fifth stump line to Virat Kohli, and then he will get out. I had self-belief. I just wanted to focus on my own strengths rather than someone else’s weaknesses. I bowled to my strengths and ended up getting the wicket,” he stated further.

All eyes were on Virat Kohli who returned to the domestic format after a long gap. The star batter has suffered in Australia managing to score just 191 runs in 11 innings. Meanwhile, Snagwan revealed that his coaches instructed them that Delhi would be playing attacking cricket and thus the bowlers were asked to bowl a disciplined line.
“There was no specific plan for Virat Kohli in general. The coaches told us that the players from Delhi like to play attacking cricket. They are all stroke players. We were told to bowl a disciplined line,” Sangwan concluded.
