Here’s Another Dumb Charlie Kelly Thing That Actually Exists in the Real World

When he’s not shelling out singles on cat food, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s resident Rat King Charlie Kelly found a way to eat good while saving even more money: “energy balls.”

“Look, Dee, this is your problem,” Kelly told his Paddy’s Pub pal, plucking a five-dollar bill from her acrylic nails. “I could take this money, I could feed myself for a month. I would buy milk. I would buy flour. I’d buy vitamins. I’d boil them down into little energy balls to sustain me,” he explained in the Season Eight episode “Charlie Rules the World.”

Though it was likely meant as a throwaway gag, several Always Sunny fans found that Charlie’s idea of “energy balls” have made their way into the ongoing protein craze, with an iteration of the sitcom snack hitting shelves at one Redditor’s local store.

“Energy balls,” they wrote alongside a snap of several crates of simplyFUEL protein balls stacked on top of one another, posted to the Always Sunny subreddit

“Milk, Flour and Vitamins,” one commenter wrote, while another questioned whether this snack was a new branch of Frank’s Fluids. But this isn’t the only Always Sunny novelty item to make its way off-screen.

Beyond the somehow still-available dick towels, Charlie’s favorite dish is apparently a Grecian delicacy, as fans have noticed various iterations of “Milk Steak” on menus around the Balkan nation.

“Went to Greece and saw Charlie’s favorite dish on the menu,” one poster captioned a photo of an offering listed as “VEAL MILK STEAK” at a local eatery.

Speculated in the comments to be a poor English translation of milk-fed veal, several others headed to the Always Sunny subreddit to share similar menu items, ones ranging from “beef steak milk” to “milk steak black angus.”

We can only hope more stateside folks will hop on board with Charlie’s global cuisine trends — and that these questionable dishes taste better than they sound.
