Phil Lesh has sadly passed away.

On Friday (October 25), it was announced that the bassist and founding member of the rock band Grateful Dead had passed away at the age of 84.

“Phil Lesh, bassist and founding member of The Grateful Dead, passed peacefully this morning. He was surrounded by his family and full of love,” Phil‘s Instagram account shared.

The musician co-founded Grateful Dead in 1965 with Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Ron “Pigpen” McKernan, and Bill Kreutzmann.

Phil is survived by his wife Jill, and sons Brian and Grahame.
