Glenn Howerton Promises ‘Always Sunny’ Season 17 “Isn’t The End” In Heart-Felt Thank You To Fans

Less than one week out from the premiere of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s record-extending seventeenth season, Glenn Howerton wants his long-time minions to know that the show will go on. After all, the Golden God hasn’t even begun to peak.
As the most appropriately and easily agitated actor on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Howerton has made no secret of the fact that, out of everyone in the Paddy’s Pub Gang, he has come the closest to walking out on the show for good. However, just like Dennis himself, Howerton always manages to slink back to the bar for more schemes, and the longest running live-action sitcom in American history continues every year in spite of the annual writers’ room meltdowns.
Following the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 17 premiere screening at PaleyFest in Los Angeles earlier this week, Howerton posted a message to his fans on his Instagram thanking them for their continued support, saying of the new set of episodes, “I’m as proud of it as any season we’ve ever put out. And don’t worry… this isn’t the end.”
Don’t Miss
Dennis hasn’t had a moment this heartfelt since he confronted Always Sunny‘s version of Elon Musk in the Season 16 finale.
Back in 2020, FX renewed It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia through 18 total seasons, so, under the current contract, the soonest the sitcom could call it quits would be after next year’s episodes. However, even after the next season, both the network and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s creators could very likely keep the party going a little while longer. Shortly before FX announced the extension, Rob Mac (previously known as Robert McElhenney III) told It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans not to worry about the future, promising, “We’re going to keep doing it forever if people keep watching.”
Basically, as long as It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 17 is a hit, the worst bar in Philadelphia will stay in business for a couple more years. It’s just a shame that all that sweet, sweet extension money couldn’t save Mac’s Tavern.
