Found Season 2 Episode 13’s Death, Death Threat, And New Mystery Complicates Plot

Is it weird to find Christian’s death one of Found‘s most upsetting twists?

Christian was a wild card character, but he seemed well-intentioned, and learning of his death by suicide during Found Season 2 Episode 13 caught me off guard.

Of course, it wasn’t even the biggest revelation of the hour.

Penance is the Name of the Game During Found Season 2 Episode 13

The hour frequently references penance, and it follows Found Season 2 Episode 12, in which Gabi feels Sir has robbed her of the chance to exercise it.

However, forever the M&A faithful, Dhan doesn’t just say, “Turn your pain into purpose,” he embodies it. It’s not a mantra for him so much as a lifestyle and code he lives by, so fittingly, he’s the one to remind Gabi that M&A is their penance.

Finding people and the entire premise of their work is how they all find healing, and maybe Gabi lost sight of that along the way.

Worse yet, she spent so much time ensuring that her team found healing in their work that she didn’t consider it effective for her as well.

It’s something that feels similar to Bobby Nash on 9-1-1, particularly as we learned about how firefighting in Los Angeles became his penance for a tragic accident that took everything from him.

Recentering the importance of their work allowed Gabi to clear her head and make some peace with interacting with Sir, at least for now.

It also helped her accept that while she had biased moments with Bernie, her instincts weren’t entirely off.

M&A’s Latest Cases Adds to Gabi’s Background

The case with Bernie and Violet was frustrating for the expected reasons. The police’s approach when they entered his home could’ve gone sideways quickly.

They, including Heavy Boots, were adamant that Bernie did something to his sister and didn’t even attempt to look elsewhere, despite how questionable it was that a legally blind septarian who needs a cane could murder his sister and dispose of her body with ease undetected.

However, we had some nice tidbits in the case.

Shaker is always a treasure, and her attitude at Bernie’s apartment was top-tier. No one can steal a scene quite like her.

( Matt Miller/NBC)

It was nice to learn more about Gabi’s past and how Bernie and her faith helped her after her abduction.

Young Gabi built a supportive network in the aftermath, which speaks volumes about how she’s managed to do the same with M&A presently.

However, the other pressing topics do the heavy lifting during Found Season 2 Episode 13.

Gabi & Sir’s Best Interactions Happen When There’s a Divide Between Them

( Matt Miller/NBC)

We should’ve known Gabi couldn’t avoid Sir for too long. She tries to, but circumstances always bring her back to him.

It made Heavy Boots’ posturing feel hollow, and there’s not a single moment in this series where the Trent versus Hugh debacle doesn’t result in Sir coming out on top in some way.

We haven’t followed up much on Trent Sr.’s actions many years ago regarding covering up missing children. The series and many of its characters have been spinning many plates, and this mystery has fallen by the wayside.

But we know Sir won’t allow that to happen for much longer, so something tells me Sir scoring that Taming of the Shrew book after striking something with Trent may have had to do with his father every bit as much as finding Christian.

As an aside, what did you make of Sir’s literary request? Does he fancy himself the man taming his shrew, Gabi, psychologically toying with her and molding her into his version of a perfect wife?

It also didn’t feel likely that Sir would give anything of value to Trent about Christian over Gabi. He seemed taken aback when he learned of his brother’s death.

Sir may view Gabi as his only real family, but I don’t buy that he’s unaffected by Christian losing his life. He could’ve killed his brother a dozen times over.

It’s upsetting that Christian became some patsy due to someone else’s mechanization, and no one could save him.

Gabi will feel bad about his death. She never believed he was guilty of attacking Heather or coming after her, as it didn’t align with what she knew.

Christian’s Fate in Found Season 2 Episode 13 Raises More Questions

It never made sense that Christian would be Sir’s accomplice, just as it’s doubtful that he took his life. Right now, all we have to work with here is Heather.

Sir likely projected some of his own guilt onto Gabi when he used Christian’s death to appeal to her and play mind games. He knows more than he’s willing to let on about his brother’s fate, but we won’t find out anytime soon.

Now, we have another wrinkle regarding the Margaret/Jamie situation.

No one believed Jamie was who he said he was, but they were afraid to broach the topic with Margaret.

Insightful Flashbacks Add to the Intrigue in Margaret and Jamie’s Arc

( Matt Miller/NBC)

She knew how they felt, and she admitted she wasn’t ready to face a possible truth. However, keeping Jamie lingering around remains unsettling.

Margaret doesn’t want him out of her sight because she fears losing him or this illusion of him again. However, Jamie’s motivations are hard to understand when his presence is shady.

He expresses little interest in Margaret, throwing out the occasional statement that keeps her on the hook while peppering her with questions about everything else.

There may be unresolved issues and blame where he’s angry at her for losing him, so he doesn’t hold back with Margaret regarding his coldness at times.

However, it’s still bizarre how fixated he is on Gabi. He can’t take his eyes off her whenever she’s in a room, and he seems obsessive.

Jamie’s Obsession with Gabi is Alarming

It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s the person who somehow found her room in her home and put her face up on the wall as some subtle death threat. However, it also wouldn’t shock me if Heather did it, too, as she’s just as intrigued by Gabi.

Jamie crashing a crime scene was disturbing. He probably was skulking around, as the guard said.

Learning that he stole a broach from the crime scene was worse. I doubt Gabi is as willing to overlook that in the name of him finding evidence that broke the case.

That tidbit initially made me believe he broke into Margaret’s home and stole the toy train, too. However, Margaret insists that it disappeared a few days after Jamie did.

Found Introduces a Mystery within a Mystery Regarding Jamie’s Identity and Disappearance

(Matt Miller/NBC)

But why would someone enter Jamie’s room and only take that toy train? Was it only because it was a favorite?

I loved the flashbacks to the immediate aftermath of Jamie’s disappearance. Kelli Williams is such a force, and she’s remarkable with the material Found gives her.

It was heartbreaking to both see Margaret’s pain and understand how she blamed herself for so long, as well as have the context of how her family fell apart.

She forgot to be a mother to her other children during that devastating time, and it was uncomfortable and raw to see. Still, much like with FOX’s Doc, I also appreciate how these series capture the messiness, complexity, and humanity of motherhood and flawed women.

Margaret’s special vision made so much more sense when a sticking point after Jamie’s disappearance was that she got his shoes wrong — and her daughter got this information right.

Who the Heck is Jamie?!! I’m Begging!

( Matt Miller/NBC)

When life and death can depend on observations, you hone in on that skill.

Jamie has also noted this. He knows enough to guess that Margaret would have reservations about him, but she’s trying not to observe things.

He also has an answer for the missing mole and the inconclusive DNA test. But he won’t give enough information about where he’s been.

However, he has shared how he learned to be observant, too, because of his upbringing, and he mentioned barely sleeping well in a crappy motel.

Now, Margaret has the theory that the person who took Jamie was close to her but short of her own husband, who would that be?

Do you have theories, Found Fanatics?
