The evening was further electrified by Bollywood legend Sonu Nigam, who mesmerized the audience with his timeless classics at the Dadoji Kondadev Stadium in Thane.
Falcon Risers Hyderabad Crush Chennai Singams
In the day’s first match, Falcon Risers Hyderabad showcased their dominance with an eight-wicket victory over Chennai Singams. Chasing a modest target of 69 runs, the Falcons achieved the total with three overs to spare, losing only two wickets.
Chennai Singams Struggle with the Bat
Chennai Singams, opting to bat first after winning the toss, got off to a rocky start. Opener Ketan Mhatre was dismissed in the first over, while Jagannath Sarkar provided a brief spark with a quickfire 22 off just 8 deliveries. However, a miscommunication led to Sarkar’s run-out, and the Singams’ innings never regained momentum.
Prashant Gharat fell to a sharp bouncer by Vicky Bhoir, and despite surviving the Tape Ball overs, Chennai failed to score the mandatory 10 runs in the 50-50 over, resulting in a three-run deduction from their total. The team eventually posted a below-par score of 68/6.
Hyderabad’s Steady Chase
Hyderabad’s chase was anchored by openers Padmesh Mhatre and Kisan Satpute, who kept the scoreboard ticking. Although Chennai briefly raised hopes by dismissing Satpute and Shreyash Kadam in quick succession, skipper Sambhaji Patil joined Mhatre to seal the victory comfortably.
