England make rushed change to squad after Edgbaston defeat, rope in additional pacer

IND vs ENG: Gus Atkinson has been one of England’s premier fast bowlers, who has picked up 55 wickets in only 12 Tests.
Just half an hour into their 336-run defeat against India at Edgbaston, Team England added pacer Gus Atkinson to the squad for the third Test at Lord’s, starting on July 10. The addition could be a result of various factors — Brydon Carse is nursing a toe issue, Josh Tongue wasn’t the best and even, Jofra Archer might not be in the best shape to play as yet.
Gus Atkinson Added to England Squad
Meanwhile, Gus Atkinson is also coming back to the squad after he had suffered a hamstring injury in the last Test against Zimbabwe in May. In the 12 Tests he has played so far, he has been exceptional for his side, picking up 55 wickets, and even slamming a ton.
But then injuries in the bowling department, or even niggles, would make it tough for Ben Stokes to pick a XI for the Lord’s match. On the other hand, Team India would be further buoyed by the presence of Jasprit Bumrah, who has already taken a fifer in the series.
