Early Verdict on Love Island USA Season 7: It’s Giving Peak Mess

Coming off a historic season last summer, Love Island USA had its work cut out for it.

Love Island USA Season 6 was a phenomenal success, and there was a lot of pressure on this season to continue the trend and deliver another viral season that would have social media ablaze.

It’s still early days for this one, but the initial grades are in, and so far, this season is giving solid B vibes.

You may be thinking this season should be graded higher than a B or lower, and that will likely depend on how much you enjoy the drama that Love Island brings.

Much like The Bachelor and other dating shows, the love stories are just one part of the show, with the emotional stakes and dramatic moments often taking center stage.

This is a television series, after all.

Thus far, Love Island USA is about ten-ish days old by the time this article is published, and at this stage of the game, the drama has been flowing at a consistent clip.

Historically, the first few weeks of the show are often slower as connections are formed, and everyone gets to know each other and figures out how things work.

And this season has been no exception.

Couples like Huda Mustafa and Jeremiah Brown have been coupled up from the jump and are one of those couples who seemed poised to last the entirety of their time in paradise.

However, the cracks have formed, and their recent struggles have opened the door for other couples to come in and take their place, especially after Love Island Season 7 Episode 12, which was the best episode yet.

The key to Love Island always lies in the cast and production, not meddling too much. Of course, there will be games, dramatic recouplings, and the viewers voting, but sometimes you have to let the cast be and not introduce too many twists or wild scenarios that make things more manufactured than they need to be.

Thus far, the season has only had two recouplings and one vote by America, and yet they’ve still managed to deliver the drama at every turn. That tells you already that this season is a good one.

  • The Bear Season 4 Could Be Cooking Up Something Good
  • Will Doc’s Latest Casting Add Depth to Amy’s Story or Eclipse It?

The episode 12 ending will go down as one of the series’ best, as the villa crew gathered around the fire pit and found out that America was voting to split up three established couples and pair one half with the new bombshells.

It was awkward and incredibly dramatic for all the reasons that make the show work, especially because you could see how genuinely surprised the islanders were with America’s votes and the votes of their fellow islanders.

(Ben Symons/Peacock)

When Love Island gets predictable, everything stagnates, and the viewers lose interest.

What made Season 6 so good was that it was the gift that kept on giving in terms of drama, and this season has done a good job of maintaining a balance between drama and genuine islanders (mostly.)

Considering the start of seasons are usually slow, the series already having such a strong episode could be a good thing or a bad thing.

It could mean there’s even more messiness to come, as we still have the much-anticipated CASA AMOR fairly soon. Or this could be the climax, and it all goes downhill from here.

(Ben Symons/Peacock)

However, it’s hard to see that happening, considering the villa’s current status and the fact that the couples are far from solid, which means there’s room for bombshells to make waves, recouplings to stun, and challenges to plant doubts.

The challenges have been fun, if not a little random, but they’ve done their job of getting people to question relationships and providing some fun and lighthearted moments amidst the chaos.

  • 7 LGBTQ+ Shows to Watch This Pride Month
  • Characters of the Week: Leverage, The Better Sister, and Ginny & Georgia Explore Redemption Beyond Trauma

But we need ever MORE chaos now that the villa has its first real spicy night!

The early episodes are full of messy shenanigans, and they need to keep it going because this is the Love Island that people are looking for. Give us all the drama in a nice little island paradise, and your audience will walk away well-fed and ready to indulge every single night.
