Dhruv Jurel’s third consecutive bound to give sleepless nights to Team India management

Dhruv Jurel has been excellent in India A’s tour of England, and has scored three consecutive fifties now.

Dhruv Jurel has managed to smash three fifties in three outings in the India A series vs England Lions, that has only increased the headache for the Indian team management. The India-England Tests are scheduled to begin on June 20, and with Jurel’s yet another 50+ score on Friday, the first day of the second unofficial Test, the question will be asked, if he should be included in the playing XI.

Where Does Dhruv Jurel Fit in?

In the first unofficial Test in Canterbury, he went on to score 94 and 53 not out. That means, technically he should be rewarded, but the problem is, there isn’t any space in the team. If only Dhruv Jurel was to be included, it would disturb the balance of the team, since it would be in place of an all-rounder or a bowler.

Problem of Plenty

Yashasvi Jaiswal is the first opener’s choice, along with KL Rahul. Then Karun Nair/Shubman Gill occupy the next two spots. Rishabh Pant will be the no. 5, followed by Ravindra Jadeja at No. 6. Then comes either Shardul Thakur or Nitish Kumar Reddy. And then the pacers — whoever it may be.

Most likely it would be Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna. One slot that remains, could be Arshdeep Singh or Kuldeep Yadav. Both offer a skill that Jurel cannot offer. So, in short, India is spoilt for choices right now.

India’s squad: Shubman Gill (C), Rishabh Pant (VC & WK), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav
