David Beckham Set to Speak at Royal Television Society’s London Event

Former soccer star David Beckham has joined the lineup of industry leaders speaking at the Royal Television Society‘s (RTS) London Convention this year.

On Sept. 17, Beckham will be joined in conversation by Jane Featherstone, co-founder and chief creative officer of content company Sister. The ex-sportsman, who is married to Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, captured audience hearts with his Beckham documentary series on Netflix last year, amassing 3.8 million viewers within the first four days of its October release.

New speakers for the one-day event for the U.K.’s television and media industry include: Rachel Corp, CEO of ITN, Dame Melanie Dawes, chief executive of U.K. media regulator Ofcom, Cécile Frot-Coutaz, CEO of Sky Studios and chief content officer and Lisa Nandy, Britain’s culture secretary.

The 2024 convention, entitled The Next Episode: Keeping Our Creative Edge, will be chaired by Netflix’s Anna Mallett, vice president of production in EMEA/U.K., with Netflix serving as the principal sponsor for the event. The convention will be opened by Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos.

Its lineup also includes Channel 4 CEO Alex Mahon, journalist and host Amol Rajan, former quiz show co-host Richard Osman – widely known as the author of the best-selling crime novel The Thursday Murder Club – and The Guardian columnist Marina Hyde.
