Daily Roundup 7/7 – BIP’s 3 Hr Premiere Tonight, Update on Some Late Season Info, Mel Owens’ Ex-Wife Speaks On Him Being the “Golden Bachelor,” & Some Big Brother Contestants Leaked

You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality. Steve Podcast, I’m your host reality. Steve, thank you all for tuning in on this Monday. It is Bachelor in Paradise. Premier Day. Get your popcorn ready. We’re gonna talk a little bit about Bachelor in Paradise. We have some more Golden Bachelor news that broke over the weekend revolving involving Mel Owens.
He owes his ex-wife a lot of money and some of the big brother cast was momentarily released over the weekend. Just their faces. A ten second promo that CBS ran during commercials over the weekend. Of course, the BB fandom found them and their Instagram handles within like 10 minutes. We will get to all that momentarily.
All right, let’s start off with Bachelor Paradise. It begins tonight a three, yes. Three hour episode. Ugh, it’s a lot to say the least. Now a couple things that I want to go over. I should have your Bachelor in Paradise spoilers in written form on my website at some point today. That’s the goal. It’s basically just gonna be a copy and paste from what’s on my Instagram, maybe a little bit more, but so you have places to go if you don’t have access to Instagram, you’re on Instagram person, and you don’t want to just go to the pinned.
Instagram post on my feed, the very first one on my feed. You can always come to my website. You’ll see Bachelor in Paradise spoilers. Just click on that. The other thing is in the spoilers that I gave you a couple weeks ago, I had said, look, after the fourth row ceremony is when Jesse Palmer, as we’ve seen him in the trailer, saying the game has changed.
That is there’s no more eliminations at rose ceremonies in terms of people giving out roses. And somebody doesn’t receive a rose, so they go home. At that point, nobody else enters the show. I believe there’s nine couples left after fourth row ceremony, six of the younger ones, three of the goldens. And then from that point forward, I said, look, I don’t know the exact details, but I.
It is some sort of voting out process. They vote, I don’t know if they vote as a twosome. I don’t know if the twosomes vote separately, but it is a voting out of who is to leave the game next. That’s the way it works from that point forward. And I said, I don’t know if it’s based on the challenges that they do, if there’s a money situation involved.
Well, you heard. Chad and Lizzie on the podcast on Thursday, and when I had asked them, Hey, do you know what the big thing is this season? And they said, oh, you mean the money thing? So having the weekend to kind of get with some information, uh, I think it is safe to say that the winning twosome this year does get paid.
Now the question is how much do they make? What I’ve gathered is. It’s more than Love Island, which I believe is a hundred, 150. So there is going to be a winning team of Bachelor Paradise this summer, and they will get paid what that number is. I don’t know, and I don’t know who wins, but if I had to guess based on everything that I had heard leading up to the spoilers, I’m pretty sure it’s Spencer and Jess.
They’re the winners of this season, but could be wrong. Um, but that’s, that’s kind of what I gathered. And again, if it is this sort of voting out process, I don’t know what they’re voting on, who they think is the most solid couple, or who they think deserves to win the money, or maybe that kind of goes hand in hand.
I’m not sure exactly what this process is for the whole voting and how the voting is done, but just know after rose ceremony number four. This is something we’ve never seen in Paradise history before. It doesn’t come down to rose ceremonies where there’s more women than men or more men than women. And if you don’t receive a rose, you go home.
Now there’s six couples of the younger ones, there’s three couples of the goldens and every rose ceremony from there on out, somebody is quote unquote, voted off, and that’s what makes things a little bit different. But it also will look different. As you know from the trailers that you’ve seen. They’re definitely going for more of a love island type vibe.
When you watch the show, the cameras were all different. The production team is all different. It was shot in 4K this year, so yeah, it’s gonna look different. And will that appeal to the masses? Are people who watch this show going to care how it looks? I mean, if it looks great, but the storylines suck, does it matter how it looks?
No, I still think it comes down to the editing, but does it look cleaner and look fresher like visually on the screen because of the cameras that they used and how it was shot. And a lot of drones were used this season for sure. It’s just gonna look different, obviously different location as well, but I’m talking about how it looks on the screen.
Definitely looks a little bit different and they upped their budget when it came to the cameras. So it’s gonna be a different show the first four weeks. No, it’s not gonna be different. It’s gonna be the same paradise that, you know, people arrive, date cards, whatever. But there are challenges in those first four weeks as well where, I don’t know if the challenges give somebody a benefit.
I don’t know if maybe challenges are used at the end of the season when someone has voted on to win this thing. It’s like, well, they really did well in the challenges. They won the most, so I’m gonna vote for them. Like, I don’t know if that plays a role at all, but challenges is something we’ve never seen on Paradise before, and obviously a money prize, uh, to the winning couple is something we haven’t seen either.
Get ready three hours tonight. I think it’s three hours next Monday too. And then I think after that it goes to two hour episodes. So here it is, finally. Bachelor in Paradise Premieres tonight on a B. C. Some Mel Owens news for you. Still haven’t heard either way if they are getting rid of him or if they are going to keep him.
But a report from the Daily Mail, uh, came out this weekend that Mel Owens is being ordered to pay $980,000 in his divorce settlement, and his ex-wife had some choice words. For Mel Fabiana is his ex-wife. She’s 46 years old, and she was asked by the daily Mel, well, what do you think about him becoming the next Golden Bachelor?
She said, good luck. I mean, it’s going to be bad, but anyway, I don’t wanna be involved in this end. Quote story goes on to say, Mel and Fabio’s divorce was finalized in December of last year after a four year court battle. She filed for divorce in February of 2020. Citing irreconcilable differences, they’ve got two sons, Lucas, who’s 19, Andre, who’s 18.
The parents share joint and legal physical custody, meaning they share equal parenting time. I. Instead of paying for child support, Mel was ordered to pay his youngest’s high school tuition fees and cost of extracurricular activities until he graduates. Although Fabiana had waived all rights to receive ongoing spousal support, alimony, or separate maintenance from Mel, he was ordered to pay his ex the sum of $980,000 on or before February 28th of this year.
This amount was determined by support. Ridge, unpaid child and spousal support that accumulated over time, potential child and spousal support owed after December, 2024. The division of non-retirement community property assets and debts. Prior monetary sanction against him by the court and contribution to Fabian’s attorney’s fees and costs as stated in the divorce settlement.
So now it says he was ordered to pay this amount by February 28th, 2025. I’m, I’m assuming he did. Maybe it’s still out there. ’cause all this stories headline says is he’s ordered to pay 980,000 in divorce settlement. I dunno if they’re just telling us this, that hey, this guy who’s already had a bad name has already soiled the Golden Bachelor franchise.
Also had a million dollar bill dropped on him in February of this year. Oh, maybe I should have read down further in the story ’cause it says it is presumed that Mel has paid off the $980,000 by the February, 2025 deadline since the final court’s document state. In the event that Mel fails to make a timely payment, the petitioner Fabiana requested the court vacate this judgment on reserved issues.
The marital residence shall be listed for sale immediately, and all prior orders in this matter shall remain in full force, in effect, while Mel was given, um. C possession of the house. So it looks like, um, and they said the, the home is not currently for sale, so looks like he did pay this. So the headline, while salacious is a little misleading, the guy paid it.
Now to me, his financial issues, which doesn’t even seem to be an issue, he has paid it. If this was outstanding, then yeah, I think we’d have a problem here, but it’s not. So let’s move on to the more important part of the Mel Owen situation, which is everything we’ve been talking about for the last week.
Nothing has changed on my end. I still believe absolutely a, B, C is making a huge mistake. Nobody wants to see this guy as the Golden Bachelor. Every single story about him is negative. The show hasn’t addressed it. Jesse Palmer hasn’t addressed it. I don’t see why you can’t just step in. As I said, this is the first bachelor to ever put his foot in his mouth or bachelorette lead to put the foot in the mouth before filming started.
You know when stuff happens with Devon Strader and we find out after the season is there, there’s not much we can do in the public eye. Jen Tran can take that information and be like, well, geez, now they had already broken up at that point, but. You know what I’m saying? We find out stuff about contestants, but the show’s already filmed.
There’s nothing that can happen that the show can do. The show can actually do something about this. They haven’t started filming yet. Now you might say, well, they’ve filmed intro videos. They’ve dedicated X amount of dollars to. Have this guy as the Golden Bachelor, they’ve promoted him. Well, that’s very, very minimal at this point.
We know that they’ve shot intro videos with other people in the past that didn’t end up getting the lead. Kayla Quinn ended up going with jojo, so I don’t want to hear that. They’ve already started the filming process with this guy. Can I take you back to July of 2020? They literally started filming a season of the Bachelorette and two weeks in, Claire had made her decision, I wanna leave with Dale.
They were able to, if you are to believe them, on the fly during COVID where people had to take two weeks sequester, or 10 days to 14 days of sequester. Claire was only filming for 14 days before she decided. I’m going with Dale. So during the middle of filming a season, they were able to adjust on the fly, bring in somebody else to replace their current lead, and that somebody else seemingly had to sequester for 10 to 14 days.
Yet Claire only filmed for 14 days. Don’t get me started on that whole story, but I said it at the time and I’ll, I’ll just repeat it again. I think they had taysha on standby. They always knew they were gonna bring Tacia in at some point because the math isn’t matting. For them to bring Tacia in two weeks into Claire’s season and have her replace Claire the day after Claire decides to go off with Dale.
How would they have done that if she wasn’t already there for 10 or 14 days? Sequestering. ’cause at that point mean all the contestants on Claire’s season, Claire, herself, everybody there. Had to be at La Quinta for two weeks, 10 days to 14 days before any sort of filming started because they had to be sequestered.
So how does Claire 14 days into filming, have someone replace her the next day? All I’m saying is if you could do that during COVID and replace your lead during filming, clearly before you start filming, you can replace Mel Owens with somebody else. Will they guess we’ll have to wait and see. This podcast brought to you by Zocdoc.
