Dasun Shanaka makes a return to the Sri Lanka T20I squad alongside Dunith Wellalage for the SL vs BAN T20I series. Sri Lanka have named a strong 17-man squad for the three-match series. Chamika Karunaratne also makes a return while Eshan Malinga gets his maiden T20I call up.
Trio return, Eshan Malinga rewarded for IPL, SA20 show
Sri Lanka have announced a 17-strong squad for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. The series is key to the Islanders’ preparations for the 2026 T20 World Cup. Former captain Dasun Shanaka returns to the set up alongside Chamika Karunaratne. Karunaratne bolsters the pace attack alongside Eshan Malinga, with already features Matheesha Pathirana, Avishka Fernando, Nuwan Thushara and Binura Fernando.
Malinga was handed his maiden call up after impressing in T20 Leagues across the globe. He is part of the Sunrisers franchise, featuring in the IPL and SA20. His death bowling exploits have caught the eye and could be a potent partner for Matheesha Pathirana.
Dunith Wellalage also returns, with spin playing a massive role in the ongoing SL vs BAN ODIs. With the surfaces unlikley to change, Asalanka could well unleash a quartet of Kamindu Mendis, Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana and Dunith Wellalage.
The T20I series kicks off July 10 in Pallekele. The action then moves to Dambulla, before the final T20 in Colombo on July 16.
