‘Dark Matter’ Promotes Amanda Brugel As Chris Diamantopoulos Boards S2

EXCLUSIVE: Apple TV+’s Dark Matter has promoted Amanda Brugel (The Handmaid’s Tale) to series regular for Season 2 as Chris Diamantopoulos (Silicon Valley) joins the ensemble led by Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly who also executive produce.

Based on the acclaimed book by Blake Crouch, Dark Matter follows Jason Dessen, (Edgerton) a physicist, professor, and family man who — one night while walking home on the streets of Chicago — is abducted into an alternate version of his life. Wonder quickly turns to nightmares when he tries to return to his reality amid the multiverse of lives he could have lived. In this labyrinth of mind-bending realities, he embarks on a harrowing journey to return to his true family and save them from the most terrifying, unbeatable foe imaginable: himself.

Alice Braga, Oakes Fegley, Dayo Okeniyi and Jimmi Simpson also star.

As Deadline reported in 2022, Brugel joined the cast in the recurring role of ‘Blaire,’ ‘Daniella’s (Connelly) close friend. Details regarding Diamantopoulos’ recurring role are under wraps.

Starring and executive produced by Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly, and hailing from executive producer and series creator Blake Crouch and Matt Tolmach, the cast of “Dark Matter” is led by Edgerton, Connelly, Alice Braga, Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi and Oakes Fegley.

Crouch created Dark Matter and serves as showrunner, alongside co-writer and executive producer Jacquelyn Ben-Zekry for Season 2. In addition to Crouch, Ben-Zekry, Edgerton and Connelly, Matt Tolmach also executive produces.

The complete first season of Dark Matter is now streaming globally on Apple TV+.

Brugel starred as ‘Rita Blue’ in five seasons of the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning Hulu series The Handmaid’s Tale, alongside Elisabeth Moss, Yvonne Strahovski, and Ann Dowd. During her tenure, she earned four SAG Award nominations as part of the Best Ensemble Cast in a Drama Series. She will reprise her role in the sixth and final season premiering on April 8.

Additionally, she will star in the upcoming film Nika & Madison, directed by Eva Thomas. Her film Sweetness just premiered at SXSW, and she will also star in the Canadian features Ballistic and Dancing on the Elephant. She is repped by the Arthur Agency and LINK Entertainment.

Diamantopoulos will next be seen in the Amazon Prime series The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, alongside Chris Pratt and Taylor Kitsch. Perhaps best known for his portrayal as Russ in HBO’s Silicon Valley, he has played characters ranging from ‘Moe Howard’ in the Farrelly Brothers’ The Three Stooges to journalist Royal Brougham in George Clooney’s The Boys in the Boat to the sadistic Sotto Vocce in Netflix’s Red Notice. He also appeared in the Netflix crime drama True Story and Damon Lindelof’s Mrs. Davis for Peacock.

As a voice actor, he currently stars in Invincible for Amazon, Blood of Zeus for Netflix, and Beavis and Butt-Head for Paramount. Diamantopoulos is the fifth person in history to voice the legendary Mickey Mouse on multiple Disney series, for which he has received two Emmy nominations. He is repped by Paradigm, Untitled, and Goodman Schenckman.
