Dakota Johnson recalls how mom Melanie Griffith introduced her to Barack Obama

Dakota Johnson is looking back at the time her mom Melanie Griffith embarrassed her while meeting former president Barack Obama.

The Madame Web star explained in a recent Vanity Fair video that the incident occurred following the release of the 2010 film about the creation of Facebook, The Social Network

“I was with my mom and we were meeting Barack Obama and it was a huge deal,” Johnson recalled. “He was talking to her and she goes, ‘Oh, Mr. President, this is my daughter. She’s just did a movie. She’s an actress too. She was in The Social Network — she’s in her underwear.’”

She was instantly mortified. “And I died,” Johnson said. “I died inside.”

Directed by David Fincher, The Social Network was Johnson’s first film credit as an adult after previously making her debut as a child actor in the 1999 film Crazy in Alabama. She starred as a French major named Amelia “Amy” Ritter who walks around her dorm in Stanford-labeled underwear after spending the evening with Sean Parker (Justin Timberlake), the co-founder of Napster and former president of Facebook.

The actress admitted that she “100% had preconceived notions” about sharing the screen with Timberlake prior to filming the scene.

“But he was lovely and kind and really welcoming,” Johnson maintained, “for a person that was just a stranger.”

She also revealed that she unfortunately wasn’t able to keep her character’s underwear in the end, adding, “They’re a good little booty short.”
