“I collaborated on one of the new songs, and it’s so special to me,” she said on the Variety Awards Circuit podcast. “When we filmed it, the entire crew was in tears. I hope audiences are ready — it’s a song that speaks to the heart of who Elphaba is.”
Of the darker tones in the second film, Cynthia teased, “We’re diving deeper into the consequences of the characters’ choices. The story is richer, and the stakes are higher. It’s not just a continuation; it’s a transformation.”
Cynthia previously talked to Variety about the music in part two.
“I think they further extend the story, and it tells you a little bit more about who these women are and what they’ve been through, and what they want for this next part of their lives. The songs are very special,” she said. “Some of it you might recognize, but that is as far as I can go. I can’t tell you anything else because I don’t want to get into trouble. But there are things in the songs that you will recognize.”
