Cronulla Sharks vs Gold Coast Titans results, round 18, Brisbane Broncos vs Penrith Panthers updates, latest news; Alarm bells ringing at Parramatta as Mitchell Moses’ frustrations ‘boil over’

Interim Eels coach Trent Barrett has conceded star halfback Mitchell Moses is “frustrated” with the club amid a form slump that’s sunk the club to the bottom of the NRL ladder.

Despite playing much of the game deep in Souths territory on Thursday night, Parramatta still conceded six tries to three in the 32-16 loss, the side’s fourth straight.

A week after reportedly giving his teammates a dressing room spray after losing to the Knights, Moses let his emotions get the better of him, sin-binned for a professional foul with under five minutes to go.

“He’s frustrated at the moment,” Barrett told media after the match.

“He’s frustrated with the performance tonight. The game was done and dusted by that stage (the sin bin) but it boiled over for him at the end.”

Moses would no doubt have been frustrated by three of the Rabbitohs’ tries – including one to Cody Walker on the stroke of half time – which were particularly soft.

“There were at least three tries where we just stopped and hoped someone else would do their job and it doesn’t matter what grade you’re playing, you do that and they’re going to score and that’s the most disappointing thing at the moment,” skipper Clint Gutherson said.

The club’s performance against Souths was in many ways similar to that in similar conditions against the Knights.

“No one outside this room is going to help us get out of this, so we’ll have to do it ourselves,” Moses reportedly told the group with some colourful language included.

While senior club bosses have indicated they had no problem with the spray, such an admission from Barrett – who is himself frustrated with delays from the Eels board in announcing a new coach – is concerning for the club.

The Eels are almost certain to be without him for the Titans match next weekend as Moses returns to Blues camp ahead of Origin III.
