Colin Donnell, Shaina Taub Join Cast Of Broadway’s ‘Ragtime’ Revival

Colin Donnell (Chicago Med) and Shaina Taub (Suffs) will join the cast of Ragtime on Broadway this fall, Lincoln Center Theater announced today.

The two, along with Nichelle Lewis (The Wiz), Ben Levi Ross (Dear Evan Hansen), John Clay III (New York, New York) and Rodd Cyrus (Encores!’s The Light in the Piazza), join previously announced Joshua Henry, Caissie Levy and Brandon Uranowitz in the production set to begin previews at LCT’s Vivian Beaumont Theater on Friday, September 26. The official opening is Thursday, October 16, with the limited engagement running 14 weeks through Sunday, January 4, 2026.

The revival will be the first production of LCT’s incoming Artistic Director Lear deBessonet. Ragtime, which had its original Broadway production in 1998, is a musical adaptation of E.L. Doctorow’s 1975 novel featuring a score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, a book by Terrence McNally, and original orchestrations by William David Brohn. All won Tony Awards for their work.

The synopsis: Ragtime follows “three fictional families in pursuit of the American Dream at the dawn of the 20th Century: Black pianist Coalhouse Walker, Jr. (Henry) and his beloved Sarah (Lewis), Jewish immigrant Tateh (Uranowitz) and his little girl, and a wealthy white family led by matriarch Mother (Levy). All grasping for the same dream, if only they can hold onto it.”

Donnell will play the character Father, Taub will portray Emma Goldman, Ross will play Mother’s Younger Brother, Clay will play Booker T. Washington and Cyrus will play Harry Houdini.

The ensemble will feature Nicholas Barrón, Briana Carlson-Goodman, Billy Cohen, Rheaume Crenshaw, Charity Angél Dawson, Ta’Nika Gibson, David Jennings, Marina Kondo, Morgan Marcell, Tom Nelis, Kent Overshown, John Rapson, Deandre Sevon, Jacob Keith Watson, and Alan Wiggins.

Casting to round out the complete roster of 33 performers will be announced at a later date.

The Lincoln Center Theater production will feature choreography by Ellenore Scott, sets by David Korins, costumes by Linda Cho, lighting by Adam Honoré, sound by Kai Harada, projections by 59 Productions, and hair and wigs by Tom Watson.
