CNN Picks Up New Eva Longoria And Tony Shalhoub Series
CNN unveiled a slate of new originals that includes series featuring Eva Longoria and Tony Shalhoub and the renewal of Have I Got News For You.
The lineup was unveiled today as part of the Warner Bros. Discovery upfront presentation.
Eva Longoria: Searching for France, debuting in 2026, will be the latest in the network’s Searching For franchise. This fall, the network will debut the international food and travel series Tony Shalhoub Breaking Bread.
Announced earlier were two new documentary features, I’m Chevy Chase and You’re Not and In the Prime of Life, as the network puts new focus on its CNN Films unit. Other highlights: Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Mark Herzog are executive producers of the original series Decades in Sports, while the network will mark the 250th anniversary of the United States with the project tentatively titled This Land Is Your Land, with October Films as producer. Also on the slate is a series looking at the history and culture of New Orleans.
Have I Got News For You will have its third season premiere on Sept. 6, part of its Saturday night lineup.
The slate includes:
Eva Longoria: Searching for France. Longoria will explore French cuisine and culture, having previously headlined Searching for Mexico and Searching for Spain. Produced by Hyphenate Media Group.
Tony Shalhoub Breaking Bread. Per CNN, “Shalhoub embarks on a mouthwatering journey around the world, with bread serving as the conduit into a variety of international cuisines and cultures…From baguettes to buns, flatbreads to focaccias and every grain in between, Shalhoub believes breaking bread has the power to bring people together.” Produced by Lionsgate Alternative Television from its Blackfin label.
I’m Chevy Chase and You’re Not. Marina Zenovich directs this authorized documentary about the comic actor. The project comes from CNN Films and West Buttermilk, in association with Propagate Content and Five All in the Fifth Productions.
In the Prime of Life. Janet Tobias is the director of this project that focuses on the dramatic rise of early onset cancers, with a focus on patients, doctors, nurses, social workers and scientists. The project comes from CNN Films, and is a production of Global Health Reporting Center and HHMI Tangled Bank Studios. Premiere is scheduled for 2026.
Prime Minister. The film follows the career of New Zealand’s Jacinda Ardern and her years before, during and after leading the country from 2017 to 2023. Michelle Walshe and Lindsay Utz direct, and producers are Madison Wells and Dark Doris, in association with Divergent Pictures. The film will premiere later this year on HBO, CNN and Max after a theatrical release on June 13.
Have I Got News For You. Roy Wood Jr. and team captains Amber Ruffin and Michael Ian Black return for this humorous take on the news of the week via games and panel discussions. Produced by Hat Trick Productions. Premieres September 6.
New Orleans (working title). The four-part series chronicles the history of the city to the present day, with interviews with figures including Emeril Lagasse, Wendell Pierce, Malcolm Jenkins, Trombone Shorty and James Carville.
Decades of Sports. The six-part series will look back at key moments and star athletes over the past sex decades. Its the latest CNN project from Playtone and Herzog & Company.
This Land is Your Land (working title). Per CNN, the project “tells the story of the dramatic transformation of six iconic locations throughout the nation’s storied past, as titans of history clash to reshape the map and seize the future of the United States.” October Films is producer, scheduled for 2026.
