We can’t blame you if you are. But you won’t have too long to wrap your head around it, as an all-new Chicago PD will be here in no time, and it will be a good one.
Who’s next on the roster for a centric during Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 12? It’s Torres Time, baby!

Chicago PD Season 12’s Character Centrics Are Serving Intelligence Well
It feels like Chicago PD has finally found the right formula for exploring the characters this season without detracting from the crime-fighting and other characters.
We still can’t make sense of the order regarding rotating character focus, but despite that, the pacing and stories haven’t suffered much.
The only member of Intelligence who may have gotten shortchanged thus far is Atwater, only because we haven’t seen him featured prominently since Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 3.

Fortunately, we won’t have much longer to wait for some more Atwater content, but we will see him featured heavily in this upcoming installment.
Our boy Torres is back in the spotlight for this hour, and the promotional stills suggest that Kevin and Kiana will play supporting roles.
The character-centric this season feels more intimate than ever, and it seems like we’re getting to dive even deeper into characters we’ve known and loved while balancing some intriguing cases, too.
Torres Has Struggled Since Gloria’s Death

It’s almost hard to believe we haven’t checked in with Torres much since the Gloria fiasco.
The last time we followed Torres beyond his parts within a case was during Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 8. Gloria dying in his arms wrecked him.
Not only did Gloria’s death deeply impact Torres, but he also strained his partnership with Kiana, and there was tension with the rest of the unit.
Torres’ relationship with Gloria is what Reid has used to get Voight under his thumb.
For the most part, Torres has worked well enough with the rest of the unit since then, but there are still hints of something beneath the surface, particularly with Kiana, and one has to wonder what’s going on in Torres’ head.
Torres’ Undercover Mission Brings Up His Troubled Past

He tends to keep to himself and not express things as much, so Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 12 will be the perfect opportunity to get a feel for Torres’ headspace.
The episode is titled “The Good Shepherd,” and it teases that Torres will go undercover in a juvenile detention facility as a correctional officer.
Perhaps the shepherd reference is in regard to what is happening in that facility and protecting the young offenders who reside within the walls of the detention center.
Something “gruesome” leads Torres to this undercover assignment. One has to wonder if the discovery in question may be the death of one of the kids.

But this case is also personal for Torres. He’ll be returning to a facility where he resided in his youth, and there’s some history there for him.
Since Torres’ introduction, we’ve known about his troubled past. Torres spent some time on the other side of the law, exposed to gang culture, and spent some time as an enforcer.
Torres May Look at the Case as a Chance to Prove Himself to the Team
He spoke briefly about his time in a juvenile facility during Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 5 when he discussed the matter with Kiana on a case.
In the promo, Torres seems to volunteer to go undercover, willing to put himself in an uncomfortable position and most likely prove his worth to the team.

It wouldn’t be far off to suspect that Torres may feel the need to make things right with the unit and remind them how much of an asset he is, even though no one else is doubting that.
He tends to be hard on himself.
But going back to that juvenile facility may bring up some bad memories for him, and it’s also possible that it’ll expose him to people who could potentially blow his cover or cause him harm.
In a brief clip, we see him dressed as a guard and in the cell of one of the teens. The young man yells at Torres and appears to challenge him and his identity, and then we hear the cell lock.
It appears as if Torres is locked inside with this young man who may be trying to cause him harm. You can see Torres’ panicked expression as he tries to get help.
Kiana and Kevin Team Up to Back Torres

Another interesting aspect of this hour will be Kiana and Kevin working together.
So far, Kiana has effortlessly blended into Intelligence, and she’s had great chemistry with everyone whom she’s shared the screen with this season.
Kiana has spent a lot of time with Ruzek, and we’ve also seen Kim take a mentor role with her, which has been particularly refreshing and great. Obviously, Kiana has spent a great time with Torres, too, and she and Voight are copacetic.
The only person we haven’t seen Kiana spend much time with thus far is Kevin, until now. It’s exciting to see these two share the same space, and it’ll be fun to see what type of chemistry they have together.
It appears they’ll do a lot of the surveillance and serve as Torres’ backup while he’s undercover at the detention facility.
The Kevin and Kiana content will be as exciting to watch as Torres and learn more about his background.
It’ll also be a great installment to discern where Torres and Kiana are in their partnership.
With a case that may hit home for Torres and have him feeling vulnerable, maybe the two Intelligence rookies can come to understand each other better and make amends.
