Canucks’ Tyler Myers OK after scary shot block
The Vancouver Canucks could have been staring down yet another injury on the blueline, but thankfully defenceman Tyler Myers dodged a bullet, according to head coach Rick Tocchet.
Myers suffered an injury in overtime against the Los Angeles Kings and left the game. He was attempting to block a shot on the four-on-three penalty kill when a puck deflected up and hit him in the throat area.
The 35-year-old appeared to be in serious pain and remained on the ice, doubled over, while being attended to by Canucks training staff. He was helped off the ice by teammates and immediately headed to the Canucks’ locker room.
Tocchet assured reporters after the game that Myers was OK and that the defenceman was momentarily dizzy after the puck hit a nerve in his neck. Tocchet also suggested he could still be an option on Thursday night against Anaheim.
