Toronto Blue Jays minor-league pitcher Rafael Sánchez tossed a seven-inning no-hitter for the double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.
Sánchez had two strikeouts, two walks and a HBP en route to the fourth no-no in Fisher Cats history and a 4-0 victory over the Altoona Curve.
The 25-year-old Cuba native was signed by the Blue Jays to a minor-league contract in May of 2022, and posted a 3.64 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 19 starts with both the high-A Vancouver Canadians and the Fisher Cats last season.
New Hampshire has won a five in a row on top of a 37-inning no-hit streak heading into the second half of its doubleheader Saturday night.
Sánchez has a 4.91 ERA in 11 starts with the Fisher Cats this season. He appeared in 72 games with Sabuesos de Holguin in the Cuban National Series from 2017-2021 where he had a career ERA of 5.12.
