An Unreleased Song from ‘The Nightman Cometh’ Has Purportedly Leaked

“The Nightman Cometh” episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia gave us bangers like “Troll Toll” and an extended version of “Dayman.” Not to mention, the capper:  Charlie Kelly’s song-proposal, which was more than any of us deserved. But to our surprise, there’s another five-star track that failed to make the cut — Mac’s solo ballad, “It’s Nature, Shit Happens.”

The song, set shortly after the villainous Nightman enters through Baby Boy Dennis Reynolds’ window, is an ode to villainy, complete with Adolf Hitler name-drops and Charlie’s signature rhyming fake-out.

“It’s nature, shit happens, there’s nothing to be done!” Mac’s character sings in his winged Nightman getup. “Pol Pot committed genocide, but Vader killed for fun, fun!”

The song appeared in several performances of The Nightman Cometh live show back in 2009, and is rumored to have been written for the Season Four finale, only to end up on the cutting room floor.

Footage of the song being performed in front of a silent audience, as well as the number’s choreography, which prominently features a Nazi salute and an anti-Asian gesture, could mean that the scene managed to veer into NSFFXX (Not Safe for FXX) territory.

Even with these concerning additions — and the glaring plot hole that Charlie or Mac would know who Pol Pot was — some fans argue against its omission, saying that this is what peak musical performance looks like.

“This is exactly how it feels trying to watch Hamilton,” wrote a commenter on the Always Sunny fan Instagram account that originally shared the clip, while another likened it to a different classical musical comedian. “Close enough, welcome back Mel Brooks,” they joked.

Others felt the song had more of a modern air, insisting the absurdly offensive tune would fare better in another artist’s catalogue. “Kanye(’s) new single goes hard.”

Although, to be honest, if that’s what it’s being confused for, maybe it’s for the best that it remains the deepest of Always Sunny deep cuts.
