American woman gives hilarious responses to her boyfriend’s trivia questions about the UK: ‘Is King Williams the Prime Minister?’

An American woman has been ridiculed online after answering trivia questions about British history when asked by her boyfriend.

Posting the humorous incident to his TikTok account, Luke Tandy asked his partner seven questions in the clip, which has been viewed more than 100,000 times.

Beginning the quiz, Luke started off with what might be considered an easy question, as he asked: ‘Who is the Prime Minister of the UK?’

Surprisingly, his girlfriend was completely clueless, and answered: ‘King Charles, King Williams, Prince Williams’ – not only managing to confuse Prime Minister Rishi Sunak with members of the royal family, but also stumbling over the Prince of Wales’ name.

Next up, Luke threw in a slightly trickier question, asking: ‘What countries make up Great Britain?’

In response, his partner successfully guessed England, Wales and Scotland, and correctly left out Northern Ireland, which is not part of Great Britain, but is only in fact part of the United Kingdom.

She managed to get two in a row right, correctly answering that the pound sterling is the currency of the United Kingdom, before stating that London is the capital of England.

Her streak of correct answers came to an end when she was asked to guess the time zone used in the UK – which is Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) in winter and British Summer Time (BST) in summer – comically guessing the cities of Bristol and Newcastle as answers instead.

She was also befuddled by her partner’s next question: ‘Which British chocolatier created the Creme Egg?’

Thinking he meant a person rather than a brand, she hazarded a guess at ‘Sir Edward Charles’.

The first filled chocolate egg was created by the Cadbury brothers, John and Benjamin, but the one in its current form was actually manufactured by Fry’s in 1961, before it was later made by Cadbury from 1973.

Luke rounded off the video with a ‘true or false’ category, asking if the following cities are in the UK,: London, Nottingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Marbella.

She got all of them right, apart from stumbling over Nottingham, which she said was not in the UK, while she believed Cairo – the capital of Egypt – was a British city.

Reacting to the video, other users were incredulous at some of her answers.

One wrote: ‘Not knowing who the Prime Minister is is acceptable but to think it’s the King is absurd’.

Another scorned: ‘Imagine thinking Cairo is in England.’

A third joked: ‘To be fair to her we have changed Prime Minister a lot recently’.

A fourth remarked: ‘Fry’s created the creme egg, [it is] now made by Cadbury though!’
