Adam Arkin Set To Direct & EP MGM+ Anthology Series ‘American Hostage’

EXCLUSIVE: Adam Arkin has signed on to direct and executive produce the first four episodes of American Hostage, a thriller anthology series from MGM+ and Sony Pictures Television.
Emmy winner Jon Hamm stars in the eight-episode first installment based on the first season of the scripted podcast of the same name, reprising the role he voiced on the podcast. Production on the series begins this fall in Winnipeg, Canada.
Created by Shawn Ryan (The Night Agent) and Eileen Myers (Big Love), American Hostage is a psychological thriller set in the 1970s that tells the harrowing true story of Fred Heckman (Hamm), a beloved Indianapolis radio reporter who is thrust into the middle of a life-or-death crisis when hostage-taker Tony Kiritsis demands to be interviewed on his popular radio news program.
Hamm will also serve as an executive producer on the series alongside Connie Tavel, Sharon Hoffman, Ryan’s MiddKid Productions partner, Marney Hochman, Shawn Christensen (Criminal Content) and Gabriel Mason (Criminal Content).
Sony Pictures Television will distribute the series internationally.
Arkin is currently an executive producer on Peacock’s Poker Face. His previous directing/producing credits include The Night Agent, Cruel Intentions, Sugar, The Offer, Rebel and Get Shorty among many others.
