Vehicle driven into crowd in Los Angeles, injuring at least 30 | News

The Los Angeles Fire Department in California said a vehicle was driven into a crowd of people in East Hollywood, injuring at least 30.
Three people are in critical condition, the department reported on Saturday.
There are reports the driver of the vehicle lost consciousness, drove into a taco cart and subsequently ran into a large number of people outside the club.
Adam Van Gerpen, public information officer for the Los Angeles City Fire Department, told US broadcaster ABC a line of people – the majority female – were waiting to enter a nightclub when they were struck by a vehicle that also hit a taco truck and valet stand.
“This is under police investigation. This will be a large investigation with the LAPD,” Van Gerpen said.
The driver was later found to have been shot, according to Los Angeles police, who were searching for a suspected gunman who fled the scene. It was not immediately clear if the driver was shot before or after the crash, or why he drove into the crowd.
The incident occurred at about 2am (09:00 GMT) on Santa Monica Boulevard.
A man suspected of driving the car is in custody, a Los Angeles Police Department official said.
“He was transported to the hospital, he’s undergoing surgery, he is in stable condition. However, he is not free to leave, he is in the custody of Los Angeles Police Department, and we’re looking at charges such as attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon at this point,” Lillian Carranza told broadcaster CBS.
A fight had broken out outside of the club prior to the incident, according to Maria Medrano, who was working a food cart outside. Shortly after, Medrano said, the car hit a group of people.
She said she and her husband, who were both selling hot dogs outside, narrowly escaped after the car struck their stand, crushing it.
“The car stopped once it hit the hot dog stand, it got stuck there,” Medrano said from the hospital. “If not, I wouldn’t be here to tell [the story].”
Medrano said she heard what appeared to be gunshots after the crash.”Everyone started running,” she said.
