20 Movies That, For Better or Worse, Have No Hint of a Plot
We like to think of ourselves as a website of the people, which means that we’ll tolerate an arthouse experiment every once in a while, but we believe all movies should have certain things. Characters, a setting, a script, a sweet-ass Grand Funk Railroad needle drop. You know, the basics. Almost always, they should have a plot. Almost.
Sometimes, nothing needs to actually happen in a movie for it to be moving and useful — two people having a conversation can be as emotionally exciting as the highest octane series of car chases. Of course, sometimes nothing happens in a movie because it was made by a really bad moviemaker. It’s a toss up, really, but Reddit sorted them out after user Due_Film8896 asked r/AskReddit, “Which movie can be summed up as ‘nothing really happens’?”
