Adesanya-Imavov, Magomedov-Page announced for UFC Saudi Arabia
UFC Saudi Arabia will feature two high-profile middleweight bouts in the main and co-main events.
Israel Adesanya will fight Nassourdine Imavov and Sharabutdin “Shara Bullet” Magomedov will take on Michael “Venom” Page, UFC president Dana White announced Saturday.
A win for the No. 2 ranked Adesanya (24-4) would not only end his current two-fight losing streak, but may also get him another title shot. Non-title fights are foreign to “The Last Stylebender”, with his last non-championship bout coming in 2019 against Anderson Silva.
He holds the middleweight record for knockdowns, while ranking second in longest win streak, and title fight wins.
Imavov (15-4) is on a three-fight win streak after victories over Roman Dolidze, Jared Cannonier and Brendan Allen, all of whom rank within the top 10. The 29-year-old Frenchman is currently ranked fifth in the middleweight division.
In the co-main, Magomedov and Page are sure to put on a show for the fans.
“Shara Bullet” is coming off a highlight finish over Arman Petrosyan, putting him into the top 15 after just four UFC fights. He holds an undefeated 15-0 MMA record with 12 coming by knockout, and has earned a performance bonus in his last three bouts.
Page, the 15th-ranked welterweight contender, is 1-1 in his UFC career after leaving Bellator. He has gone the distance in his two fights, defeating Kevin Holland but losing to Ian Machado Garry.
The event takes place at The Venue in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Feb. 1, sitting in between UFC 311 and UFC 312.
