On May 28, 2016 a western lowland gorilla named Harambe was shot and killed by staff of the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. This after a 3-year-old child made his way into Harambe’s enclosure.
As Harambe seemingly grew more agitated, zoo officials decided to put the gorilla down. One rifle shot to the head, and it was lights out.
Listen, I’m no parent. But if your 3-year-old has the wherewithal to climb a 3-foot tall fence, make his way through 4-feet of bushes and brush, fall 15 feet into an animal enclosure, then maybe we should have Child Protective Services on speed dial.
