7 Questions The Hunting Party Needs to Resolve in Season 2

The first season of The Hunting Party introduced many dangerous serial killers and wove several mysteries that must be resolved in Season 2.

While The Hunting Party Season 1 dropped hints frequently, the series left major cliffhangers in The Hunting Party Season 1 Episode 10.

The finale left Oliver’s fate uncertain, revealed the identity of Shane’s birth mother, and discussed more details about Silo 12. That leaves us with even more questions that must be addressed next season.

Will Oliver Survive, and If So, Do He and Bex Have a Chance of Reconciliation?

We’ll likely have to wait until the series returns to learn Oliver’s fate since the cast and crew have been very quiet, only mentioning that the emotional cliffhanger motivates the team.

Oliver Odell started as a morally grey character. We saw the flashbacks of him murdering someone, but he became more likable, and the other characters also had pasts.

  • Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5 Episode 8 Delivers A Solid, If Typical, Case, But Please Tell Us This Character Isn’t Dying Soon

Even though Jenna Wells killed hundreds of people with one of her drug toxins earlier, we’re holding out hope that Oliver beats the odds of one of her drug toxins.

I’m a sucker for angsty and tragic couples and watching Oliver and Bex declare their love as he was dying had me rooting for him to survive even more.

They laid their souls bare. They deserve that chance. Part of me would love it if Oliver had a near-death vision of him, Bex, and Sam, and then survived. Don’t make me beg, NBC.

When Will Shane Learn Col. Lazarus Is His Mother? Will We Learn the Identity of His Father?

(David Astorga/NBC)

Many people assumed Doctor Dulles was Shane’s father, so it was a significant revelation that he wasn’t and was the only person who knew Shane’s birth mother.

Shane and Sarah Dulles have bonded to the point that they’re like family, and she wanted to help him find answers.

It seemed ironic that Sarah and Morales learned simultaneously that Col. Lazarus was Shane’s birth mother, but Shane still doesn’t know since he was saving Bex and Oliver.

I don’t trust Col. Lazarus because she seems to want all the prison escapees murdered and is working with Attorney Mallory.

However, she has clout, and she could have worked to get Shane that job at the Pit to keep an eye on him, since we know she wanted to meet him. Will she now fight for him and the team and side against AG Mallory?

We are unsure of who Shane’s birth father is, but it would be interesting to explore if it was another inmate Col. Lazarus knew or if it was someone she was in love with before entering the Pit.

Have Other Inmates Graduated From The Pit?

(David Astorga/NBC)

If that realization wasn’t shocking enough, Dr. Dulles also admitted that Col. Lazarus graduated from the Pit.

That cliffhanger scared us, as thousands of fugitives have been running loose since the Pit blew up on The Hunting Party, Season 1 Episode 1.

However, she used to be one of them, so how long has the Pit been around?

It again brings more questions than answers, as we wonder if other serial killers are working behind the scenes with James Whitmore’s experiments.

Will we learn in The Hunting Party Season 2 that the number of Pit graduates is shockingly massive?

How Has Col. Lazarus Changed? Did Her Transformation Affect Her Decision to Recruit Oliver?

(James Dittiger/NBC)

Who is Col. Lazarus’s boss? I suspect she works with or for Attorney Mallory. Those two seem in cahoots, but was that the case years ago?

I suspect she knew that James Whitmore and other scientists still ran unethical experiments out of the Pit, and she needed someone who would look the other way.

She likely assumed that Oliver felt desperate after being isolated from the agency and would accept any job.

In some ways, I think she cares about him, as he told Bex how Lazarus had been there for him.

If Oliver survives, that loyalty will be tested, as Oliver has learned far too much.

How Will the Team Continue to Catch Serial Killers Without the Backing of the Attorney General?

(David Astorga/NBC)

Hassani, Bex, and Shane’s relationship is the best part of the show. We love the underlying mysteries and the love triangle, but the team dynamics are the heart of the series.

Technically, AG Mallory shut down the team before they shot Jenna Wells, making it a murky situation. While they were protecting each other, they weren’t an active team, and it could be considered murder.

That would be a shocking season opener, and just another reason for the attorney general to resent them. She’s got to be hiding something since she only wants an active team that will follow her rules.

Hassani commented at the beginning of The Hunting Party that there were hundreds of serial killers who escaped, which justifies that they need the team.

However, this question may take longer to resolve, as I wonder if they’ll need to run in secret to prove themselves. They need Morales and Oliver to run at full power, so hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long.

What Happened in the Other Silos?

(David Astorga/NBC)

While the series explored Silo 12 in The Hunting Party Season 1, they didn’t discuss the other silos yet, except that they all had access to Silo 12.

Oliver gained access to a map of them all and showed he had changed by sharing that information with Bex. While Silo 12 was the main hub, there is a possibility that that other prisoners were experimented on in the others.

Bex, Hassani, and Oliver may have opened an entirely new can of worms that the government tried to hide.

It appeared that scientists could view other top-secret experiments from other silos, including Silo 12, so hopefully, in The Hunting Party Season 2, the series will expand on The Pit’s true mission.

Were they trying to reform these prisoners, or did the government have a unique mission for them?

What Kind of Relationship Does Hassani Have With His Children Since He’s Gone So Much?

(David Astorga/NBC)

Finding out that Hassani’s wife died two years ago seemed like a huge reveal until Jenna attacked Oliver.

He’s the stable member of the team, but he has secrets, too. It made more sense why he refused to take off his wedding ring when he was shot, since it’s the main connection to his dead wife.

However, it opened many more questions about Hassani’s family, such as who cares for him when he’s on these missions. We’ve seen him call home and check in.

He must worry about going on these missions and chasing criminals, knowing they only have one parent left at home.

While much of The Hunting Party focuses on the mission, I’d appreciate some scenes of Hassani (Patrick Sabongui) with his children, as he recovers. These family scenes are so important.

(David Astorga/NBC)

We’d love it if they applied this logic and also showed more scenes with Bex and Sam, since developing these personal relationships allows us to know these characters.

These are only a few of the questions we hope The Hunting Party will resolve in Season 2.

Since it received a full-season order, there will be more time to flesh out character arcs and mysteries.
