Kidambi Srikanth vs Lee Cheuk Yiu
Srikanth is aiming to reach his first quarterfinal in the BWF Tour this year. The Indian clinched a hard-fought three set win against Weng Hong Yang in the first round. He will be facing a big challenge against Hong Kong’s Lee Cheuk Yiu. Yiu defeated Lakshya Sen in straight games in the first round.
Both the players have 1-1 head-to-head record. They last met three years ago at Hong Kong Open and Lee Cheuk Yiu defeated Srikanth in the contest.
Mithun Manjunath vs Lee Chia Hao
46th ranked Mithun Manjunath, who received an entry to the main draw will now aim to seal spot in the second round. He faces qualifier Lee Chiao Hao in the second round.
Manjunath defeated qualifier Joran Kweekel in straight sets in the first round. Meanwhile, Lee Chiao Hao clinched an upset win against seventh seed Zhao Junpeng in the first round. Chiao-Hao clinched a 21-12, 21-13 win.
HS Prannoy vs Christo Popov
India’s top ranked player HS Prannoy defeated All England finalist Shi Yu Qi in three games in the first round. The Indian, who was runner-up in the Swiss Open last year aims another deep run in the tournament. He takes on Christo Popov.
Popov meanwhile made it to the second round after sailing past Kiran George in straight games. Both the players will be facing for the first time in the tour.
Women’s Singles
PV Sindhu vs Putri Kusuma Wardhini
In the Women’s Singles, PV Sindhu and Putri Kusuma Wardhini will face each other in the second round. Sindhu clinched her first win of the season by defeating Jenjira Stadelmann in the first round.
Fourth seed Sindhu enters as the favourite against unseeded Putri Kusuma Wardhini in the second round. Wardhini is entering the contest after a straight game win against Lalrinrat Chaiwan in the first round. Both the players will be facing each other for the first time.
In the Men’s Doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will face Chinese Taipei’s Lee Fang-Chih and Lee Fang-jen for a spot in the quarterfinal.
